Horizontal static pressure molding is a high-end production process for manhole covers. Instead of vibration compaction or instantaneous shooting-squeeze molding, it adopts horizontal parting, flask-based static pressure compaction, and precision molding.
During production, air flow is first used for uniform pre-compaction of the sand mold. Then, a multi-head system applies balanced high pressure at multiple points to complete static pressure molding. The entire process runs without vibration or pressure deviation, helping the sand mold achieve uniform density and a compact structure from inside to outside.
This process provides several key advantages in finished products:
Accurate and controllable cavity dimensions
High flatness of the manhole cover
Tight fit between cover and frame
Reduced risk of mold shift, deformation, flash, or excessive gaps
Strong process compatibility for fine core setting and fixed chill placement
Ability to produce standard covers as well as large-size, custom-shaped, and high-load engineering covers
More uniform and compact metallographic structure
Improved resistance to rolling load, impact, and settlement
Better weather resistance and longer service life compared with ordinary process products
The main trade-off is higher equipment investment and production consumable costs. The production cycle is more stable but not designed for maximum-speed mass output. As a result, products made by this process are usually positioned at a higher price point and are often selected for high-standard municipal, key transportation, and large-scale infrastructure projects.
